  • Nathaniel Mountain Wildlife Management Area

    10,600 acreas with 21 miles of foot trails and 4 miles of stream. Twelve wildlife clearings amidst extensively wooded mixed oak-hickory and oak-hard pine forest with abundant white-tail deer and wild turkey, and small native brook trout (Mill Run).

    From Rt. 50 west of Bristol Springs, south on Grassy Lick Rd. approximately 12 miles to entrance road on right. Entrance road goes through 1 1/2 miles of private land to the state boundary, indicated by an entrance sign. Hunting and Fishing in West Virginia

    8,000+ acres of mountains woodland. Fifteen miles of foot trails among mixed oak and hard pine woodlands. 61 acres of beaver meadows, abandoned fields and man-made wildlife clearings.

    Wild turkey and deer are plentiful; grouse and squirrel are also popular species found here.

    18 miles southwest of Bristol Springs. From US Rt. 50 in Augusta, turn south on Ford Hill Rd., travel approximately 8 miles, turn left at Short Mountain WMA sign. Gravel entrance road passes through private land for approximately 1 mile up to the west slope of the mountain.
  • Edward's Run Wildlife Management Area
    Edwards Run Wildlife Management Area Edwards Run Pond is a 1.5 acre impoundment located in the Edwards Run Wildlife Management Area in Hampshire County. The lake is accessible from County Route 15, 10 miles southeast of Bristol Springs.

    Edwards Run Pond and approximately 1.5 miles of stream above the pond are stocked with trout once during February, bi-weekly March through May, and twice in October. From June 1 - December 31, each year, the stream above the pond is stocked with brook or brown trout and managed as a fly-fishing catch and release trout stream.

    Stocked from WV Secondary Rt. 50/25 bridge upstream 3 miles to Millbrook. This portion of the stream is situated approximately 6 miles southeast of Capon Bridge and is stocked once in February and once every two weeks from March through May.

    Stocked from WV Secondary Rt. 8 bridge, approximately a mile above the mouth upstream to near Junction along U.S. Rt. 50 and is stocked once in February and once every two weeks from March through May.

    About 15 minutes from Bristol Springs. The 184.5 mile long canal was built between 1828 and 1850 and that stretches from Georgetown to Cumberland, MD. In 1971 the canal became a historic Park. Today, the canal's towpath is a favorite of hikers, joggers and bikers.
